airports generate most income from the retail offer - the nonaviation sector. airports, during the years, changed from rural airfields to airport cities, that include, besides the basic travel-procedure functions, new offers that don't necessarily have to serve the aviation business.

my airport design relies on flowstudies of departing passengers - based on a self written simulation tool - defining retail space where its required, in respect of the different annual flight plans. retail space, in that way, is located where passenger flow has a positive effect on it - more income is generated.
